Zardoz

029: Zardoz

The triumphant return of the Cinema Ahh*Some website! Do we need a website? Probably not, but it's fun! Anyway, we are watching Zardoz tonight. Here are the details and a post so you can comment to your heart's content.

When: Sunday, March 18th 7:00pm
Where: Matt's Place
Film: Zardoz

Netflix Description: In this cult favorite from John Boorman (Beyond Rangoon), 23rd century society is split into two castes -- the overly civilized Eternals and the barely civilized Brutals -- one of which is constantly controlling the other. The Brutals worship a huge stone figure known as Zardoz. When Zed (Sean Connery) begins to question the authenticity of this god, the film is able to offer some pointed commentary on class structure and religion.

Um...yeah! Also worth noting, John Boorman directed this between Deliverance and Exorcist II: The Heretic. He must have been going through a strange time. That or he did a crapload of drugs in the 70s.
