WEEKEND MUSIC

Every Friday and Saturday night (exluding a couple national holidays, winter break and spring break) from 9:30pm until 12am you will hear live music at the Terrace or Der Rathskeller (weather permitting). We do our best to book a diverse group of musicians but are always willing to accept suggestions. The first Friday of every month we have First Friday Blues and each semester the committee puts together different series. In the past we have had world music series, jazz series and country/bluegrass series.

CLUB 770

This program also occurs every weekend. There is live programming once a weekend and DJ programming every other weekend at Club 770 in Union South. These shows begin at 9pm and their end times vary. These programs focus more on independent music but still carry a diverse flavor.

PAID AND SPECIAL PROGRAMS

Often times we sponsor programs that don't fall neatly into these two programs. These programs occur in any of the venues below or in other rooms throughout campus. The paid programs are typically bands of higher caliber and we charge a small entrance fee to offset higher artist fees, but it's only to bring you better programming. And as you may imagine, we are a non-profit organization so any profits go back into the programs.

The Terrace

If you live in Madison, and you haven't been to the Terrace, you are missing out. It has been voted the best live music venue by both student papers and the Isthmus. There is enough seating for about 2000 people and so long as the weather is warm and the sky is dry we will have our shows outside on the Terrace. Outside there is the Brat Stand that serves beer on tap as well as a few grill items.

Der Rathskeller

Modelled after a German beer hall, the Rathskeller is a common hangout of students and union members. People eat both lunch and dinner here, getting food from the cafeteria. The room is very unique and provides a wonderful atmosphere for concerts. It holds about 500 people and is a perfect place to relax and enjoy some great live music.

  Union South

Club 770

Our only venue at Union South has become a new favorite of the independent arts scene in Madison. Since the unfortunate fire at O'Kayz Corral there has been a lack of independent music and 770 is working to take care of this. The room holds about 350 people and has a sophisticated light system used for our DJ events and some live events.

  Directions

To Madison:

From Milwaukee/Chicago: Get on I-94 going West and continue for 65 miles past Milwaukee (about 70 miles from Chicago to Milwaukee). When you reach the Madison area the highway will split and you will go straight on Route 30 heading towards Madison. You'll continue for 3 miles until you get to an exit marked "State Capitol." Get off and continue the only direction possible, which will be West on Washington Ave. Continue for 3-4 miles until you reach the Capitol. Follow the Capitol Loop around and then take a right on Wisconsin Ave. The trip is about 2.5 hours.

From Minneapolis: Take I-94 East for about 250 miles and then get off on exit 135A, which is Route 151 South (Washington Ave). Continue on the road towards the Capitol and follow around the Capitol Loop. Then you'll make a right on Wisconsin Ave. The trip is about 4.5 hours.

To Memorial Union: From Wisconsin Ave. make a left on Langdon St. and continue until the end, which is less than a mile. Memroail Union will be on your right at 800 Langdon St. It has its own parking lot and there is another lot if you continue past the Union and make a right. The lot will be on your left.

To Union South: From Wisconsin Ave. make a left on Gorham, which will turn into University Ave. Follow the street for about 1.5 miles to Randall Ave. and make a left. Union South will be on your left in about two blocks.
